Defense Camp

SEERA Hockey is excited to team up with Competitive Thread to deliver a Summer Defenseman Development Camp for players in the U15–U18 age groups.

This camp is designed to sharpen the specialized skills needed to thrive as a defenseman. Athletes will receive targeted instruction to improve technical ability, positional awareness, and decision‑making under pressure.

Camp Highlights

• Defense‑Specific Skating Mechanics: Backward stride efficiency, transitions, pivots, and edge control for defensive movement.
• Gap Control & Angling: Managing space, steering attackers, and maintaining strong positioning.
• Defensive Zone Coverage: Net‑front play, stick positioning, and understanding defensive responsibilities.
• Breakout Skills: Retrievals, scanning habits, deception, and delivering accurate first passes under pressure.
• Blue‑Line Offense: Walking the line, creating shooting lanes, puck distribution, and effective point play.
• Battles & Compete Habits: Body positioning, corner battles, stick engagement, and winning 1‑on‑1 situations.
• Situational Decision‑Making: Reading pressure, anticipating plays, and building hockey IQ from the back end.

Eligibility

• U15: Birth years 2012–2013
• U18: Birth years 2009–2011
• Players must be registered with SEERA Hockey for the 2026–2027 season.
• New players for the 2026–2027 season should contact Kerri (details below).
• Players trying out for club hockey are not eligible.
