U13 Tier 1 Information for 2025-26 Season
Who is SEERA?
SEERA is the governing body for minor hockey for South East Edmonton (SE Zone). SEERA operates U13 Tier 1, U15, U18, U21 Rec and Junior C programs and oversees two child organizations, Millwoods Hockey and North SEERA Hockey, both of which provide U7-U13 programs in their operating areas. For the U13 Tier 1 level, select players from Millwoods Hockey and North SEERA merge to form one team under SEERA to ensure the strongest possible SE Zone team for the program.
What does the U13 Tier 1 Program offer?
Playing for SEERA includes high quality coaching, a competitive team atmosphere, additional development and power skating sessions, plus extra practices and tournament opportunities. You can expect 3–5 hockey activities per week at this level.
Head Coach Selection
A committee formed by 3 of the 4 following SEERA Board members will make the Head Coach selection: President, Vice President, Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner. The Head Coach will be a parent coach who has applied through the Coach Application process, and selected based on previous coaching experience, feedback from parents and previous association, and child eligibility (dependent on roster finalization). Interested candidates must email their completed Coach Application to SEERA Registrar Kerri at seeraadmin@shaw.ca. If you are interested, please submit your completed application as soon as possible. A final decision will be made following the second round of evaluations.
Evaluations
Evaluations will run from September 17–22 and there is a $150 evaluation fee. Eligible players include:
- 2013 players who played Tier 2–3 in the 2024/25 season
- 2013 players who played U13 Tier 1 in the 2024/25 season and are not trying out for Club
- 2013/2014 players who played HSL (2024/25)
- Or by Director permission
Players need to register with their home association (Millwoods or North SEERA) prior to registering for U13 Tier 1. Players must specify their position (Forward, Defense, Goalie) they are evaluating for when registering. Players are not permitted to participate in their home association U13 evaluations while they are still involved in the U13 Tier 1 evaluations. Players who are not selected for the U13 Tier 1 team will return to their home association. Players may withdraw before the second evaluation game.
Final Roster Selection
The Head Coach will determine the final roster using evaluation rankings and input from the Directors.
Camps, Shinny and Pre-Skates
SEERA will not offer pre-evaluation ice times. Registered players may attend their home assocation (Millwoods/North SEERA) shinny, pre-evaluation skates and camps to shake off the summer rust.
Season Fees
- Base fee: $725
- Additional “seed” fee: $1,000 per player (payable in installments)
- Total Expected Program cost: $1725.00 per player (before fundraising activities)
Fundraising and Sponsorships
Teams will use fundraising and/or sponsorship to bolster and/or offset seed money.
